| Dayton is located 50 miles southwest of Fallon and is in Storey County. Dayton is known for its beautiful high desert setting, historical heritage, and great location. It is only a short drive to the historic mining town known as Virginia City, Nevada state capitol Carson City, Reno, and the majestic Lake Tahoe. Dayton is nestled in a fertile valley with the Carson River running through the valley. Prospectors and settlers were attracted to the area by gold and the Carson River.
In 2001, Dayton celebrated its 150th year anniversary and is the oldest settlement in the state of Nevada. “Old Town Dayton’s Main Street was once the Overland Trail, which brought many thousands of immigrants westward in the 1840′s and 1850′s. Today Old Town retains its board sidewalks and homes, shops, eateries housed in buildings with origins in Dayton’s historic past.” Dayton is growing steadily and boasts all city amenities with beautiful golf courses, airport, casinos, well known restaurants, and soon will provide a hospital to its citizens. Things to see and do: Walking tour of Old Town, Dayton Museum, and the Dayton Valley Country Club designed by Arnold Palmer and ranked one of the best golf courses in Nevada. Events include: Oodles of Noodles and Dayton Valley Days. |
